This post marks the first in a series on the Winter Solstice, the winter holiday I resonate with most. I don't celebrate Christmas, and when I tell people, they either ask if we're Jewish or Jehovah's Witness. My reasons for not celebrating are copious, and I plan to address each one through the next couple weeks. I also plan to share the history of the holiday, the ways it's been celebrated, and how much current Christmas traditions are tied into the pagan belief system. In addition, I plan on rewriting a classic Celtic mythic tale and writing some Solstice-inspired poetry.
